2024 Open Consistency

Congratulations to Paul McAlister on taking out the 2024 title. Finalists, Rookie Michelle Malzard and Paul McAlister finally got to play the final out after weather and other ACT events  prevented this year’s event being completed earlier. Both players played excellent bowls to make their way to this final. It was an even start and after the fifth end it was 25 all.  After that, consistent bowling saw Paul gain a lead of about twenty points, which he maintained for a considerable time, eventually extending it to thirty points. At this point Michelle began a fightback, gaining a ten on the eighteenth end, the only one in the match for either player. She edged closer to Paul, getting to within twenty points, but the finishing line of 150 was too close. With an excellent final end, Paul took the match with a 9-1 score. The final score was 153-117, to Paul. Congratulations to Paul, who demonstrated consistency throughout the match and was a worthy winner. Michelle put up a great fight, and will be even better next year.
